Ed Meza @edmezavar Kino Lorber’s MHz has picked up new French cop drama “Tom & Lola” for the U.S. in a pre-sale deal ahead of the series premiere at this year’s Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Le Havre, which kicks off on Monday.
Handled internationally by Mediawan Rights, the 12-episode series, about two close friends and fellow cops who end up living and working together after a marriage breakup, also pre-sold to Discovery in Italy.
Created by Camille Couasse and Sarah Farkas, produced by DEMD Productions (known for the internationally successful light-crime series “Tandem”), and directed by Jason Roffé, “Tom & Lola” “blends the procedural crime genre with compelling feel-good family elements, tapping into the current market demand for light crime narratives that offer a mix of humor and mystery,” Mediawan Rights stated.
While Tom and Lola Best have been best friends since high school, they are two very different cops: she’s a hot-headed judicial police captain, while he’s a calm and collected drug squad officer.
