Unite the union says talks have been ongoing for more than six months but have no broken down. The current offer is a pay increase of 0.3 per cent for January – March 2020, followed by 0.7 per cent from April 2021 to April 2022, Unite says.
The one per cent increase for a 15 month period has been labelled ‘derisory’ and would amount to a hefty real terms pay cut for workers, the union adds.
Around 300 drivers and supervisors are now being balloted for strike action. The ballot opens on Thursday, 26 August and closes on Friday 10 September.
