Met Office Jubilee weather as forecasters expect 'mixed picture' for Scotland over weekend

The Met Office has given its latest weather prediction for the long bank holiday weekend for the Queen’s Jubilee. Scots will be treated to a four-day weekend from this Thursday as the country marks the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.And while many of us are hoping for decent weather throughout the weekend, forecasters are preparing for a mixed bag of conditions.Met Office spokesperson Oli Claydon said: "It’s a bit of a mixed picture depending on where you are".A weather front of showery rain is expected to drift into the country from the west on Thursday, with the chance of some sunny spells.

It is forecast to be a similar picture on Friday, but that weather front is set to weaken somewhat. Southern Scotland is expected to get the worst of the rainy conditions.

But on Saturday, it looks as if there will be an upturn in the conditions as an area of high pressure begins to take control.Forecasters are expecting dry and warm conditions across much of Scotland, with the temperatures potentially reaching around 20C in parts.UV levels during these sunny periods is expected to be high, so experts have urged sunbathers to slap on the suncream when they’re out and about.Met Office Meteorologist Alex Deakin explains: “On Thursday, as this weather system approached there is some uncertainty about how much rain will arrive.“We are looking at some showery rain drifting in to western Scotland and Northern Ireland during the day for many places.“When we get to Friday, that’s where the front is weakening but it could still be the focus for some showers during Friday. “So its exact position will be key as to where we see showers on Friday, but the most likely zone will be Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, northern England, somewhere
