telegraph.co.uk14 Sep 2021 After a brief hiatus during the coronavirus pandemic, the Met Gala is back.On Monday September 13 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Vogue editor Anna Wintour played host to celebrities, designers and sport stars for the night - traditionally the event would take place on the first Monday in May.The dress code for this year's red carper parade was, as usual, aligned with the theme of the new fashion exhibition opening at the Met's Costume Institute.
For 2021, that theme is a celebration of American fashion, titled 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion'.The A-list guests, therefore, seized the opportunity to largely wear American designer labels while playing up to the opportunity to get dressed up after a year and a half.
