Arsenal star Mesut Ozil was well within his rights to refuse to take a pay cut in his wages to help the club financially amid the coronavirus pandemic.
That is the view of former Premier League striker Stan Collymore, who reckons it was a liberty for owner Stan Kroenke to turn to the players for help.
The Gunners announced this week that they had agreed a 12.5 per cent pay cut with their first team, with Ozil being the only exception along with two others.
Ozil’s decision prompted something of an outcry with many criticising the German for not relinquishing some of his £350,000-a-week wage packet.
