A man is to stand trial next year after denying kidnapping and attacking an 87-year-old man. Azizur Rahman, 38, is one of two men who has been charged after police say the 87-year-old alleged victim was "forced into a car, attacked, and thrown out on a dark road in West Yorkshire" on Sunday, September 15 this year.
Mr Rahman is charged with kidnap, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, non-fatal strangulation, and robbery of a mobile phone and cash, relating to the elderly alleged victim. READ MORE: Mystery surrounds chemical letter scare at mosque Mr Rahman, of Bluebell Walk, St Mary's Way, Oldham, is also charged with perverting the course of justice, namely "setting fire to an Audi A7 which had been used in the commission of a criminal offence", on September 20, as well as threatening to kill a woman on September 22.
Appearing by videolink at Manchester Crown Court on Tuesday afternoon (October 29), Mr Rahman pleaded not guilty to all seven charges against him.
He appeared alongside his co-defendant Shohad Miah. Mr Miah, 24, is also charged with kidnap, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, non-fatal strangulation, robbery and perverting the course of justice.
