Meghan's Coronation snub proves her 'brilliant strategy', argues royal expert

Meghan Markle's decision to not attend the King's Coronation was part of a "brilliant" strategy, according to a royal expert.There had been mounting speculation for months as to whether the Sussexes would attend the historic event on 6 May, until they finally announced their decision.

It was revealed by Buckingham Palace that Prince Harry would attend the Coronation of his father, King Charles, alone, whilst Meghan stayed back at home in the US with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

And royal expert, Kristen Meinzer, has now said that the Sussexes decision to split their duties is a "brilliant" strategy. Speaking to Insider, she said: "I think the decision for Harry to go, and for Meghan to stay home with the children on Archie's birthday is a brilliant way to split the difference. "As I've said in the past, the primary benefit of attending is the optics; of looking as though they're continuing to do their best on their end — even if the royal family isn't always doing their best on their end." Buckingham Palace shared a brief statement confirming the news on Wednesday 12 April. “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May. “The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.” And her non-official spokesperson Omid Scobie revealed that Archie's birthday "played a factor" in the couple's decision for Meghan to skip the Coronation.

Kristen also said that she believes that Harry and Meghan will do "what's best for their own little family and their own mental health".
