Meghan receives 'definitive snub' from Prince William and Kate after birthday silence

The Prince and Princess of Wales "definitely snubbed" Meghan Markle with their decision to not publicly acknowledge her 42nd birthday last week, according to a royal expert.

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich also believes while King Charles was simply following protocol by not personally offering birthday wishes of his own, his choice to also not do so highlights the "less than warm and fuzzy" relationship between the pair.The Duchess' birthday was on Friday but not one of the senior royals chose to address it leading many to speculate that the Firm are still angry with Meghan for her and Prince Harry's controversial Netflix documentary.The Sussexes made a number of shocking allegations against the Duke's relatives in their six part series that was released at the end of last year, the Express reports.

Ms Forwich, a frequent commentator on royal affairs who is based in Washington, told Express.co.uk: "The most definite snub is from Prince William and Kate since they aren’t bound by protocol at all. "Indeed, last year they posted on both their Twitter and Instagram accounts best wishes accompanying a photo of Meghan."She added: "We certainly know they are social media savvy and actually did post on her birthday this year but not to her, but rather to send congratulatory comments to the documentary team who made the Rhino Man (a film by the Global Conservation Corps, a nonprofit dedicated to conserving wildlife through education)."With reference to the King's silence over Meghan's birthday, Ms Fordwich noted that the late Queen had also previously limited her birthday wishes to "working royals".She continued: "So this year, King Charles not sending formal wishes, albeit viewed as a snub by many, is actually following protocol
