Meghan Markle slammed for 'taking on Charles Dickens' after Netflix show axed

Meghan Markle is trying to "take on Charles Dickens" following the recent news of their next Netflix project according to a royal commentator.The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly developing a show based on a feminist version of the famous classic Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations.Several adaptations of the book have already been made, including one this year which featured award-winning actress Olivia Colman, the Express reports.In his damning assessment of the duchess, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: "It is one thing for Meghan to narrate Elephant for Disney, another to take on Dickens!"The news comes after high speculation over what the Sussexes would plan to do next following a string of blows this year including the loss of their Spotify deal and the cancellation of Meghan's new series, Pearl, on the streaming platform.

Mr Fitzwilliams said: "Meghan's animated series, Pearl, was cancelled by Netflix and Spotify were far from pleased with Archetypes. "Harry's documentary, Heart of Invictus, is reportedly due out soon - but it's reasonable to ask why have they done so little despite their high profile and expectations that their brand would have huge international appeal."Moving on to speak about Harry's bombshell memoir Spare that was released earlier this year, he claimed: "Harry's judgement about what to include in his memoir, Spare, was badly flawed too."Earlier this month, rumours also circulated that the Duke and Duchess are creating a film adaptation of the best selling romance novel Meet Me by the Lake by Carley Fortune.Netflix reportedly bought the rights to the novel for £3m and Harry and Meghan will produce the film through their Archewell Productions Company as the next stage of
