“Anarchy in the UK” — there’s trouble brewing in California. Sex Pistols rocker John Lydon has told fellow Golden State residents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to “f – – k off” in a shocking new interview.
London-born Lydon, 67, relocated to Malibu more than three decades ago, but he’s hardly welcoming of fellow British expat Prince Harry, who moved with Markle to nearby Montecito in 2019.
The punk musician — who was formally known by his stage name Johnny Rotten — raged against the “spiteful” prince and his wife, telling the Telegraph on Thursday that the couple couldn’t stop speaking out — despite allegedly asking for privacy. “If you want to be normal and outside of [the royal family], then f – – k off.
Just f – – k off and shut up!” he declared. Lydon’s lambasting of the former royals comes as a shock, given that the Sex Pistols’ most famous track was the anti-monarchy anthem “God Save the Queen.”The 1977 song — which includes the lyrics “God save the queen/ the fascist regime” and “God save the queen/she’s not a human being” — shocked many upon its release, with critics claiming it was “an assault” on Queen Elizabeth II.
