Meet the ex-Coronation Steet actor who swapped the cobbles for vinyl shop

Wales Online has been to speak to Charles Dale, who played Dennis Stringer for two years in Coronation Street. Now he tends the counter of his family's Dale's Music shop on the High Street answering questions about vinyl and carrying on the business that's been with the Dales since 1947. But that's not all he does, as along with acting and shopkeeping, Charles has recently been appointed a Tenby town councillor. "I look at things and sometimes I think 'that needs fixing,'" he said of his new councillor role. "And I don't know if I can, but I can certainly go in and say, can we fix this?

How do we fix this? You know, just strange things, toilets, parking, you know, rubbish. Those little things. "Despite spending 20 years of his life in London, Tenby has always been in Charles' blood and it was the Wales town that gave him the passion for acting. "We actually used to have a baby grand in the back corner where I used to have to do my piano practice, while people nosed through the door, which obviously went down like a lead balloon and my mother used to say, 'will you and your father having an argument before or after supper?' So that's why I became a guitarist basically," said the 59-year-old, who didn't like working in the shop as a youngster.
