Maura Higgins has slammed claims she is dating her married Dancing on Ice skating partner Alexander Demetriou. The Love Island babe, 29, took to Twitter to deny the reports after Alex, 28, was reportedly pictured leaving her home this weekend.

Rumours of the nature of the pair's bond have been rife after Maura announced she split from Curtis Pritchard ahead of the live final, and Alex’s marriage is said to have collapsed last week.

But she begged people to "get over" the rumours and said the pair are simply friends, as she furiously denied the stereotype that men and women can't be anything but a couple.

Maura tweeted: "2020 & yet again a man & woman can not be friends! "Me & Alex are friends + joe and I are friends! "YES I have more
