28, wrote in his book that his dad, John Bennett Perry, saved his life “multiple times” — and even stepped in over a conversation the “Friends” actor had with the show’s co-creators.“After about three weeks, I called Marta Kauffman and David Crane to tell them I was sober and could return to ‘Friends,'” Perry recalled in “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.”“‘When are you coming back?’ They said. ‘We need you to come back.
It’s going to be very work intensive. We have to start in two weeks, or we won’t be able to do it.’“But I was still very sick,” Perry continued. “My father had overheard the tenor of the conversation and called Marta and David back. ‘I will pull him off your television show,’ Dad said, ‘if you continue to act this way around him.'”The “Fools Rush In” actor was “grateful” for his dad in that moment, but he also “didn’t want to be the problem” for his co-stars and the show.
