Matthew Lawrence shared his perspective on the #MeToo movement and opened up about a horrible experience in his past.
During an episode of his Brotherly Love Podcast, the 43-year-old actor said that he was fired from his agency after “a very prominent Oscar award-winning director” asked him to strip.
He opened up about the experience and also called out what he saw as a double standard when men came forward about being mistreated in Hollywood. Read more about Matthew Lawrence’s story… “There’s been many times in my life where I’ve been propositioned to get a huge role,” Matthew said, before going into the story. “I’ve lost my agency because I went to the hotel room, which I can’t believe they would send me to, of a very prominent Oscar award-winning director who showed up in his robe, asked me to take my clothes off and said he needed to take Polaroids of me.” He continued, saying, “And then if I did X, Y and Z, I would be the next Marvel character.
I didn’t do that, and my agency fired me because I left this director’s room.” He said that “a lot of my other male friends” had similar experiences but opined that it was a “double standard,” using Terry Crews as an example.
