Mathieu Flamini close to being multi-billionaire after becoming CEO of mega-rich company

Arsenal star Mathieu Flamini has been appointed CEO of the chemicals company he co-founded in a move which could make the former footballer a multi-billionaire.Flamini, 38, announced his retirement in 2019 after two spells with Arsenal, before moving on to join AC Milan on a free transfer.

He moved back to the Premier League with Crystal Palace before ending his career with La Liga outfit Getafe.And since hanging up his boots, the former midfielder has been busy amassing a huge fortune with GF Biochemicals, the company he co-founded in 2008.

The firm was the first in the world to mass-produce levulinic acid and its fuel is made from plant waste which can be used to create plastic in an environmentally friendly way.The ex-Gunners ace, whose estimated net worth is £10billion according to Forbes, said: "We founded GF Biochemicals with the ambition of finding sustainable alternatives to oil-based products." After being appointed chief executive of the company, Flamini is set to boost his personal fortune which will make him a multi-billionaire.Flamini is confident that new funding secured from a round of investment will be used towards further investment for different areas of the company including partnerships, research, development of an intellectual property and towards building a production facility. "What we’re trying to achieve here is to tackle the chemical pollution," added Flamini, whose ambition to help the environment remains priority.
