Masked Singer's Phoenix unveiled as Ricky Wilson as he finishes in second place

Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson has been unveiled as Phoenix during the finale of The Masked Singer.The singer, 45, came runner-up on the ITV show to Rhino during Saturday’s final following a vote from the studio audience.

Following his reveal, judge Rita Ora was in shock as she has worked alongside Wilson in the past, adding: “If you sang how you sing I would have got you in a second.” The singer also said he was “very pleased” to be mistaken for actor David Tennant by judge Davina McCall.

Asked if he had enjoyed his time on the show, Wilson said: “Of course, it gets quite infectious. You really want to win it.” However, eagle-eyed viewers sussed Phoenix's true identity out weeks ago after a string of tell-tale clues.

Clues for the character included rising from the ashes, following a hollow trail and mention of the mystery person reinventing themselves.The character has also dropped a series of further clues including listing several reality shows as well as The Voice, which Ricky appeared on as a coach.
