Queen of home baking Mary Berry has urged people not to make their own hot cross buns this year. She suggests buying them from the supermarket instead – because “the quality is better”.
The former Great British Bake Off judge, 85, told BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme that she even prefers the shop-bought Easter buns to her own recipe.
She told host Sheila Dillon: “The comfort of a cake, there’s nothing nicer than a Victoria sandwich. Maybe you even want to tackle something like hot cross buns. “Mind you, I have to confess that the best quality ones are in the supermarkets, they have the better quality.
