The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has released new figures revealing that as of November 2023's end, nearly 1.6 million older people are benefiting from Attendance Allowance.

This benefit, which offers either £72.65 or £108.55 per week, aims to assist those at State Pension age with extra daily living expenses.

Yet consumer champion Martin Lewis has highlighted that potentially over a million pensioners might not be claiming this non-means tested allowance.

He shared a savvy tip on how to ensure payments are 'backdated' to the initial claim date rather than when the DWP processes the completed application form.
