State pensioners and those planning for their retirement have been urged to carry out a check that could potentially add more than £50,000 to their retirement income.
The team at Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert has reminded individuals in their most recent newsletter to review whether they could increase their National Insurance (NI) contributions to enhance their pension.
One woman found she could boost her state pension by around £60,000 over 20 years after checking her NI record, and now others have been encouraged to do the same to potentially secure significant increases to their later-life income.
According to guidance from the Money Saving Expert crew, this "potentially unbeatable" top-up option could see people's retirement funds swell by upwards of £50,000.
