Martin Lewis has urged those who receive the Winter Fuel Payment to check their details after the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) confirmed to MoneySavingExpert.com that it had sent out more than 60,000 letters with incorrect information.
The Winter Fuel Payment is a UK-wide benefit that helps people born on or before July 5, 1952 to pay their heating bills. In Scotland, the benefit has been extended to also cover families with severely disabled children.
Those eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment can get between £100 and £300 to help pay for additional costs during the winter months to heat their home.
