Martin Lewis issues new warning on 'extra tax bill' for couples

Martin Lewis has issued a clarifying statement for couples who have been shocked by an "extra tax bill" from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Generally, married couples can use Marriage Allowance to transfer some of their personal tax allowance to their partner up to £1,260.

According to current government figures, this reduces their tax by up to £252. However, while many couples will do this to reduce their tax, some have instead found that they've been hit by an unexpected surprise tax bill.

Martin explained what the unexpected bill is and why it often happens in the latest episode of the 'Not The Martin Lewis' Podcast'.
