Martin Lewis highlights DWP rule costing state pensioners £3,900 in ITV Money Show special

Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has sounded the alarm about a particular Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) regulation that could be causing state pensioners to miss out on £3,900 each.

On Tuesday night’s episode of ITV's 'The Martin Lewis Money Show', ahead of the Autumn Budget, Lewis cautioned Labour Party Chancellor Rachel Reeves mere hours before her announcement.

During the show, he answered questions from the audience, including from a recent widow inquiring about her eligibility for pension credit, reports Birmingham Live.

Lewis explained, "You have to be on an income of under £11,400 to be eligible. It's a very tight means test and is critically underclaimed." He also mentioned his upcoming budget-special episode and expressed his wish for the chancellor's presence, stating: "I will be talking about winter fuel payment without you chancellor, so you may as well be here.
