Martin Boyle has revealed his horror Hibs injury was only discovered when he went under the knife. The Easter Road talisman has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing an operation.

Boyle had been included in the Australia squad for the World Cup, but was handed the devastating news that he was being replaced when it became clear he wasn’t going to be fit enough to play.

The decision was taken that the former Dundee man would have surgery in a bid to sort the problem. The forward has twice suffered serious knee injuries before.

But after the docs opened him up, it was discovered that Boyle had in fact damaged his anterior cruciate ligament. His club confirmed earlier today that he would be out for the rest of the Scottish Premiership campaign.
