Now, he's targeting a fifth world championship crown.The Jester from Leicester bravely opened up about a battle with depression that coincided with his performances on the baize, which included exiting the World Championships at the first round.

But he has bounced back, and a storming week of performances at the Welsh Open culminated in him seeing off Scottish hero Stephen Maguire in the final - with less than two months to go until the biggest tournament of the season gets underway in Sheffield.

And Selby believes he's getting back to his best at the perfect time. He told SportsBoom: "I’ll go there confident, I can’t not.

This season so far, even when I’ve not done well in some of the tournaments and I’ve gone out early doors in the last 32 or last 16, I still feel like I’ve played okay.“There haven’t been many matches where I can single out a really poor performance.
