Marcus Rashford (born 31 October 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Manchester United and the England national team.
A Manchester United player from the age of seven, he scored two goals on both his first-team debut against Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League in February 2016 and his Premier League debut against Arsenal three days later.
He also scored in his first Manchester derby match, his first EFL Cup match and his first UEFA Champions League match. With United, Rashford has so far won the FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield and UEFA Europa League.
Marcus Rashford has backed Manchester United’s young players to make an impact in the new season under Erik ten Hag. A number of the club’s academy players have featured during pre-season, and will be aiming to impress further as United get their 2022/23 campaign under way against Brighton this afternoon.
Ten Hag was known for backing youth during his time at Ajax, and could hand more opportunities during his time at Old Trafford.
Rashford of course knows all about making the jump from the club’s academy to the first team. And the 24-year-old believes the club’s current crop of youngsters have given themselves the best opportunity of following in his footsteps. New signings Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen will be aiming to make their first competitive starts for the club this afternoon. “They all bring something a little bit different and also off the pitch as well, they bring something new to the dressing room,” Rashford added. “That’s important because it’s a long season and you need each other and to keep each other going and I know they’ll bring that off the pitch. “On the pitch, they’re comfortable on the ball and they can all play good football.
