Erik ten Hag got his first win of the season as United beat Liverpool 2-1 in front of a thunderous home crowd. The fans were behind the players from the first minute as they pressed Liverpool into making sloppy passes and mistakes.
It took just 16 minutes for Jadon Sancho to open the scoring, with a second-half Marcus Rashford goal sealing all three points for the Reds.
Ronaldo came on for Rashford in the 86th minute after Ten Hag only named the 37-year-old as a substitute for the match.
