Manchester Victoria station to fall silent on seven-year anniversary of Arena attack

Manchester Victoria station will fall silent to mark the seventh-anniversary of the Manchester Arena terror attack. A minute's silence will be held at the station during a special memorial service on Wednesday to remember the victims and pay tribute to the survivors of the atrocity, which happened on May 22, 2017.

The service will be held at 12pm and will be led by the rail chaplain Mike Roberts. A second minute's silence will then take place at 10.31pm to mark the moment of the attack.

Craig Harrop, regional director for Northern in the North West, said: "The Manchester Arena attack has had a lasting impact on the station staff and customers at Manchester Victoria. At Manchester Victoria, an area near to Soldiers’ Gate within the station has become a place where people can reflect and lay personal tributes.

The Glade of Light memorial can also be found between Manchester Cathedral and Chetham’s School of Music. Plans have also been revealed for a spectacular drone display to feature as part of events to remember the 22 innocent people killed in the bombing.
