Manchester United are set to go head-to-head with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni this summer.
That is according to a report by Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport, via SempreInter. It is claimed that new United manager Erik ten Hag is a 'huge admirer' of the Italian and would like to add him to his armoury at Old Trafford.
United are on the hunt for a new centre-back this summer and have already identified Pau Torres as a target. The Villarreal defender has often been on United's radar and Ten Hag is understood to have been consulted about the prospect of signing him. He racked up 44 appearances for the Italian giants this season, scoring one goal. Bastoni has also established himself on the international stage over the past year, becoming a more regular fixture in Italy manager Roberto Mancini's plans.
