Manchester United are reportedly set 'to rival' Liverpool for Brazilian wonderkid Joao Gomes from Flamengo. According to journalist Julio Miguel Neto (via the Sun), United are interested in bringing the 21-year-old to Old Trafford, but now face competition from Jurgen Klopp's side who are looking to sign Gomes in January.
This would not be the first time that these two sides race to sign a player, as the report also claims United and Liverpool are battling it out for Jude Bellingham's signature.
Flamengo's talented youngster has caught the eye of Premier League clubs after making 105 appearances for the Brazilian side across all competitions.
Gomes is a versatile player, most commonly operating as a defensive midfielder, but can also play in a more advanced role, making him a very appealing option to Erik ten Hag.
