United have yet to make their first move under Ten Hag despite identifying the players he would like to bring in. Having missed out in central midfield last summer, Netherlands international De Jong is the number pick for the club in that position and talks with Barcelona continue.
However, there is still work to be done in that regard, as United also pursue Ajax duo Jurrien Timber and Antony as part of their much-needed rebuild under Ten Hag.
Free agent Christian Eriksen is another target and United also want to sign a new back-up goalkeeper to offset the impending loan departure of Dean Henderson to Nottingham Forest.
