Paul Scholes has given a damning assessment of the latest Cristiano Ronaldo saga at Manchester United after it emerged the Portuguese may not join the club's pre-season tour.
Ronaldo wants to leave United this summer for a multitude of reasons, including an enforced 25 per cent pay cut and United's lack of activity in the transfer market.
The 37-year-old made a sensational return to Old Trafford last summer, scoring 18 goals in the Premier League and six in Europe.
But United as a team did not match Ronaldo's high standards, going out of all cup competitions early and finishing outside of the Champions League qualification spots for next season.
