Manchester United forward Amad has confirmed the tragic news of his mother's death. The 22-year-old, who started for United in their 1-0 win over Fulham last Friday night, revealed the news on social media.
Amad shared a picture of him as a child in his mother's arms on Snapchat and added a short caption. It read: "Rest in peace Mum, may Allah forgive you." Since announcing the news, which has been relayed on X and other platforms, Amad has been inundated with condolences and messages from the football world. The four-cap Ivory Coast forward went on to make his debut for the club shortly after - playing seven minutes in a Europa League showdown with Real Sociedad - as he subsequently detailed his relationship with a proud mother to MUFC media.
Speaking at the time, he said: "It was all so hard to believe. After I made my United debut against Real Sociedad, I called my mum after the game and she was in tears, saying that she couldn't believe it." He continued: "For me, it was an incredible feeling because getting to play at the highest level only happens once in a lifetime.
