Manchester United have made contact with Inter Milan over the potential signing of Andre Onana, according to reports. United are set to be without their first-choice goalkeeper once David De Gea's contract expires on Friday, with talks over a new deal showing little progress and the 32-year-old due to become a free agent.
Dean Henderson has returned to Carrington this week but expects to join Nottingham Forest permanently. Erik ten Hag is thought to be keen on a new goalkeeper and has the backing of some figures in the club that feel it is time to 'move on' from De Gea.
Several options have been linked in recent weeks, but the Times reports that an approach has been made for Onana. The Cameroon international worked under Ten Hag at Ajax, and the Reds boss is a huge fan of his former goalkeeper's quality in possession - a problem De Gea struggled with throughout the season.
Inter are said to be aware of interest in their man, not just from United, and will likely demand around £52million for his sale.
