Manchester United legend Jaap Stam has opened the door to making a return to the club in a coaching role, but admits Ruben Amorim is yet to pick up the phone.
Stam spent three seasons at United as a player, winning six major trophies including an historic treble in the 1998/99 season.
He was sold to Lazio in 2001 after a fallout with Sir Alex Ferguson but the former United manager admitted years later that it was an error of judgement. The Dutchman was a penalty shootout away from guiding Reading to promotion to the Premier League in 2016/17 and he has since taken in spells in charge of Dutch sides PEC Zwolle and Feyenoord, as well as MLS side FC Cincinnati.
