Lingard was tipped to leave on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window, having excelled on loan at West Ham in the second half of last season, scoring nine goals in 16 appearances.

He didn't feature in the Premier League for United in the first half of last season but he impressed in pre-season and remained at Old Trafford once the transfer window closed.
