Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has been bailed by police after being arrested for rape. The 20-year-old was first arrested by police on Sunday (January 30) on suspicion of rape and assault.

He was detained in custody after police became aware of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.

Greater Manchester Police said yesterday that he was further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill. This morning (February 2), the force said he has now been released on bail. A statement from GMP said: "A 20-year-old man arrested (on Sunday 30 January 2022) on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman has been released on bail pending further investigation."
