Manchester United football director John Murtough is holding extensive talks with Atalanta over a possible deal for striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The Manchester Evening News revealed last month the United manager Erik ten Hag has already spoken to Hojlund, 20, via video calls.
Hojlund and Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana are now United's principal targets for up front and in goal. Bergamo, where Atalanta play, and Milan are around 32 miles apart.
Murtough is believed to have met Atalanta officials amid suggestions Hojlund is valued at €100million (£85.39m).
