Manchester United fans have claimed that for the club to get the best out of Fred than he must play alongside a dedicated defensive midfielder, rather than be in the role himself, after his great display for Brazil on Thursday.

Fred has had a turbulent time at United since his £53million move from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018, with good displays often being undermined by silly mistakes and runs of poor form.
