Manchester United have seen their first bid for Mason Mount rejected by Chelsea, according to reports. The Telegraph believe United's offer of £40million has been knocked back by the Stamford Bridge outfit - who are said to value Mount at £70m.
It has been reported previously that United will not be willing to spend more than £60m on Mount, meaning back and forth negotiations are now somewhat inevitable.
Mount has one year left to run on his Chelsea contract and United boss Erik ten Hag is claimed to view him as important business this summer.
Discussions over a new Blues deal have amounted to nothing and a departure for the England international, from his boyhood club, looks increasingly likely - especially with personal terms agreed with United.
