Manchester United youngsters Chido Obi-Martin and James Scanlon have been left out of the Under-18s' fixture against Newcastle this afternoon - promoting suggestions they could be set for a more senior role this weekend.
Obi-Martin and Scanlon were on the score-sheet for United in midweek - as they thrashed Chelsea's U18s in the FA Youth Cup at Leigh Sports Village.
With Ruben Amorim's side currently struggling for goals, there had been calls for both players to be given the opportunity to thrive in the first-team squad.
However, the Portuguese former Sporting CP head coach has urged caution to the youngsters as they prepare to make the transition from youth football to the men's team. "Of course, they have [done well] and we need them a lot for the future of this club and I am really happy for them," Amorim told the club's official media channels. "But they need to keep working because the Premier League is a different world, and they have to improve every day.
