Manchester United have apologised for the wrongful confiscation of banners at Old Trafford on Monday night. Around 10,000 supporters protested against the Glazers before United played Liverpool and the march, which started at The Tollgate pub, eventually ended at Old Trafford where fans voiced their anger at the club's American owners.

The anger from the protest contributed to the atmosphere inside Old Trafford, but some anti-Glazer banners that were taken inside the ground were subject to confiscation, which the Manchester United Supporters' Trust (MUST) raised concerns about. "We have been informed that the club has already spoken directly to the individuals concerned and have apologised for the banners being removed.

They are making arrangements to return the banners which they have stated should not have been confiscated. "The club have also said they will be reminding all match day staff/stewards of the policies ahead of the Arsenal game to avoid any repeat.

MUST will always strongly support fans right to have their say, including peaceful protest, both inside the ground and outside." The Manchester Evening News asked the club for comment on the issue but they are yet to respond.
