Manchester's Cathedral Gardens will once again play host to a huge ice rink this year. Skate Manchester will be bringing its largest ever outdoor rink to the city for Halloween and the festive season.

It opens with Scare Skate next month, which will take place as part of the annual Halloween in the City event. As ghoulish monsters take over Manchester, one of the iconic MCR monsters will take centre stage at the 813 sqm rink, where there'll be Halloween-themed music and lighting for added effects. Following the Halloween event, Cathedral Gardens will then transform into a 'winter wonderland' - with a 'dazzling' seven-metre tall Christmas tree replacing the monster and taking centre stage in the middle of a custom made ice path, which will hold an additional 30 skaters.

Rob Derry, managing director, ice and special events at Arena, which coordinates the event, says: “Halloween is always a spectacular time in Manchester, and we’re thrilled to be part of the iconic Monsters in the City trail for another year.
