A Manchester theatre is giving out 100 free tickets to its current show as part of a tie into this weekend’s Manchester Day celebrations.

Since June, the Royal Exchange Theatre has been holding performances of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. The 21st-century adaptation of the classic play, now directed by Josh Roche, has been receiving rave reviews and has had its run extended until Saturday (July 27).

With Saturday just so happening to coincide with Manchester Day, the theatre has announced that it will be handing out £2,500 worth of tickets out for free to its 7.30pm show on Saturday night. From 11am on the day itself, people who directly tell the box office “I’m Earnest and I’m here for Manchester Day!” will be in with a chance of being handed two free tickets.
