Manchester city centre has become 'unaffordable' - as monthly costs rise by staggering amount

People who own flats in Manchester city centre say it's become 'unaffordable' and have seen their bills rise by £792 per month, according to new a survey.

It’s also been revealed that three in ten renters in town have seen their rents rise by £250 or more per month this year. The survey, which attracted more than 400 responses from Mancs living in town, was run by Lucy Powell, Labour MP for Manchester Central.

exclusively. “There’s a really poor level of service and accountability that leaseholders and renters get back for their money. “It makes me want to redouble my efforts to hold the government to account on the building safety crisis, but more than that, to get proper reform leaseholders and renters who are being let down by the government watering its plans down to legislate.” Some 57 percent of survey respondents were leaseholders, with results coming back saying building management fees had risen by £339 per month for each leaseholder, building insurance costs had increased by £265, and mortgages had shot up by £188 in a year.
