Video being shared on social media shows the moment gangs of youths clashed at Manchester's Arndale shopping centre just before closing time.
It shows teenagers fighting and hurling missiles before security and police officers stepped in. As others filmed the scrap and appeared to take delight in the confrontation, one gang is captured running into the shopping centre while others are detained at the exit of the complex.
A spokesman for Manchester Arndale - which has struggled to cope with youth violence before - said no police action was taken against those who were detained at the scene, following the incident on Tuesday evening, May 7.
Greater Manchester Police said one person was hurt and an investigation is underway.
