Manchester Arena public inquiry: Praise for 'hero' who tried to save victim John Atkinson's life

Ronald Blake, who had no first aid training and was at the Arena with his wife to collect their daughter from the Ariana Grande concert, remained at the side of severely-injured John Atkinson for just under an hour.

Mr Blake dialled 999 less than a minute after the 10.31pm blast and was told by an ambulance service control room operator how to apply a makeshift tourniquet to Mr Atkinson's leg.
