The FA confirmed new transfer rules on Tuesday evening which will come into effect after Brexit and they will have a major impact on the way clubs do their business.

As part of the new rules, sides will no longer be allowed to sign young players under the age of 18 from foreign clubs and that could have a huge knock-on effect.

In a statement, the FA confirmed: "Under FIFA’s rules, the UK’s exit from the EU will also mean that clubs will not be able to sign players from overseas until they are 18." Over the summer, Manchester United brought in a total of six talented youngsters under the age of 18 from overseas academies but none of those players would have been able to join under the new regulations.
