Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has warned Ruben Amorim that Viktor Gyokeres' form in Portugal may not necessarily translate to the Premier League if he chooses to target him next year.

Gyokeres has been in phenomenal form for Sporting since arriving at the club from Coventry City. Remarkably, he has bagged 63 goals in 66 appearances for the Lisbon club which has led to speculation that Amorim may try to sign him for the Reds considering their lack of goals this season.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have scored a combined three goals for United this season but Amorim has insisted he will not try and sign any Sporting players in the January transfer window.

While Gyokeres is not a guaranteed target for the Reds, he is one of the favourites to be targeted next year but Ferdinand warned his form may not transition to England.
