A man went out onto the street with a knife shouting 'I will stab anyone' after confronting drug dealers, a court heard. After taking 'umbrage' with people selling drugs, 48-year-old Asif Hussain went back into his home where he had 'three large whiskies' to 'calm his nerves'.

He then went onto Damien Street in Longsight and shouted 'I will stab anyone'. Manchester Crown Court heard that a man was returning home in a car and saw an Asian man with a bald head and a bushy heard in the middle of the road.

The man, who was later found to be Hussain, was holding a knife in his hand which was raised, prosecutor Julian Goode said. The car reversed out of the road and the police were called.
