A man was left seriously injured after a crash between a lorry and a car on the M56 on Thursday afternoon (June 29). Both vehicles became alight after the collision.
The crash happened around 3pm on the westbound carriageway between junction nine for Lymm Interchange and junction 10 for Stretton.
An air ambulance was called to the incident along with police and the fire service with the whole motorway closed for many hours.
The road was opened eastbound around 8pm with the westbound carriageway closed overnight. This was due to repair work needing to be down to the road surface following the blaze.
